Adam Jed is an appellate lawyer who comes from the DOJ’s Civil Division. On Tuesday, February 11th, All the four government lawyers including Jed who prosecuted longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone abruptly withdrew from the case with one of them resigning outright, after the Justice Department moved to recommend a lighter prison sentence than the prosecutors had sought.

Adam Jed Background

Jed is a  2008 Harvard Law School graduate and once clerked for Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. He has worked at the DOJ since 2010. In 2014, then-Attorney General Eric Holder awarded Jed the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service, a top DOJ honor, according to a DOJ news release.

Jed represented the government in many high-profile cases during the Obama years, including defending the Obamacare contraceptive mandate in Little Sisters of the Poor v. Sebelius and working on the team that implemented United States v. Windsor, the 2014 case that struck down the federal Defense of Marriage Act’s definition of marriage as between a man and a woman.

He was one of the Legal teams involved in the Special Counsel investigation by supervised by Special Counsel Robert Mueller (2017–2019).

Adam Jed withdraws from Roger Stone case after DOJ intervention

On Tuesday, February 11th, All the four government lawyers including Jed who prosecuted longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone abruptly withdrew from the case with one of them resigning outright, after the Justice Department moved to recommend a lighter prison sentence than the prosecutors had sought.

Aron Zelinsky, a key deputy of former special counsel Robert Mueller, said in a filing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia that he was withdrawing as government counsel. He had been specially assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C. and will remain a Justice Department employee, returning to his position in Maryland.

Zelinsky was joined shortly thereafter by Jonathan Kravis, Adam Jed, and Michael Marando, all of whom told the court in quick succession that they too were withdrawing.
