Ahmed Hirsi is the husband of Ilhan Omar who is a Somali-American politician representing Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District. He is a senior policy aide for Alondra Cano, a Minneapolis City Council member.
Ahmed previously worked as a personal banker for Wells Fargo from February 2005 to May 2016. In May 2016 he founded ‘New American Financial Literacy’. He is the company’s executive director. The company offers financial advice service for immigrants and immigrant communities. The company gives them the tools and knowledge to deal with buying property, understanding banking and taxes, and enabling the possibility of entrepreneurship.

Ahmed Hirsi Wife – Ilhan Omar Marriage History
Ahmed Hirsi and Ilhan Omar applied for a marriage licence in 2002 but they never finalized the application thus they were never legally married but they were together as per Muslim tradition. The couple separated in 2008 and Ilhan officially married a British citizen, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009. The two however divorced in 2011.

Omar issued a statement on her website regarding her marital status on her website;
“In 2002, when I was 19 years old, Ahmed Hirsi (whose name before he received citizenship was Ahmed Aden), the father of my children and love of my life, and I, applied for a marriage license, but we never finalized the application and thus were never legally married. In 2008, we decided to end our relationship in our faith tradition after reaching an impasse in our life together.
I entered into a relationship with a British citizen, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, and married him legally in 2009. Our relationship ended in 2011 and we divorced in our faith tradition. After that, he moved home to England. I have yet to legally divorce Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, but am in the process of doing so. Insinuations that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is my brother are absurd and offensive.
Since 2011, I am happy to say that I have reconciled with Ahmed Hirsi, we have married in our faith tradition and are raising our family together. Like all families, we have had our ups and downs but we are proud to have come through it together.”

Ahmed together with his wife Omar has three children, Isra, Ilwad, and Adnan. His daughter Isra Hirsi is one of the three co-executive directing the US Youth Climate Strike movement.
Ilhan Omar Married Her Own Brother
In 2016 Scott Johnson, a blogger claimed that Ilhan Omar married her brother “for fraudulent purposes.” PJ Media also claimed that in 2009 Omar married her brother and that she likely committed perjury when she decided to divorce him. In August 2018 Scott Johnson continued to argue that Omar had married her brother and called the stories in the mainstream media defending Omar “pitifully weak.”
Omar denied the allegations claiming that her second husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, is not her brother. She said that Elmi is a British citizen and that they married in 2009 according to US law they split in 2011 according to their “faith tradition” and not through the US legal system. In 2017, she applied to legally divorce him, and in early 2018 the couple legally divorced.
