Angela Jacobs, who worked as a WFTV reporter, passed away on Tuesday evening, July 18, after battling breast cancer. Her death was first confirmed by her friend Nancy Alvarez.

Jacobs went to the University of Missouri-Columbia for a Master’s degree in Journalism from 2010 to 2013, attaining a GPA of 4.0. Her master’s empathised in Media Management & Strategic Communications as per her Linkedin.

She also went to Poynter Institute for speciality training in TV Power reporting in 2006.

For her degree, she went to the University of South Carolina for a Bachelor of arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Angela Jacobs Career

Jacobs joined WFTV in February 2013 and has covered hurricanes and sporting events. She spent nine years reporting in Tampa Bay and would often contribute to Fox Sports Florida’s Rays and Lightning coverage.

According to her biography, she was also a guest co-host on NBC Sports Network. On her LinkedIn, she described herself as a two times Emmy-Winning Broadcast Professional, Reporter, Anchor and Host. Jacobs said she is a current news reporter and fill-in anchor at Cox Media Groups’ WFTV Ch. 9 in Orlando. She joined the station in Sep 2012 and has been working there for almost a decade. Jacobs contributed in (2012-14) to CMG’s Orlando-based radio properties as Anchor/Reporter for NEWS 96.5 and Sports personality on ESPN 580, plus freelance work with national ABC News Radio.

Jacobs also worked as a Fill in Co-Host and Freelance for NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) in Dec 2013. She worked as Tampa Bay Rays Pre/Postgame Reporter and Lightning Feature Reporter for Fox Sports Net Florida from Apr 2009 – Jan 2012. Besides that. she worked at WTSP-TV Tambay Bay as an Anchor/Reporter for 8 years, starting Jul 2003 to Jun 2011 and for WKMG-TV Orlando as a Sports Anchor/Reporter from 2002 to 2003.

Angela Jacobs Cancer & Death

Angela first opened up about her cancer battle in 2020 when she said she underwent five weeks of radiation, four surgeries and 56 treatments. She then went into remission/

In April 2022, the journalist revealed that she suffered an unexpected bump in the road regarding her health.

Jacobs died on Tuesday evening, July 18, 2022 after battling breast cancer. Her death was first confirmed by her friend Nancy Alvarez. Her family surrounded her at the time of her death. An official obituary is yet to be created by her family.

In a touching tribute, she said: “She fought a valiant, dignified fight against breast cancer, often masking difficult moments behind her brave, radiant smile.”

In a Facebook tribute, Karla Ray wrote, “I have always described Angela Jacobs as a triple threat. She was so talented and such a team player. She could report on any story, anchor any newscast, and deliver sports like the big league pros.

In all our years working together, I never saw her in a bad mood or without a positive attitude. She was the epitome of someone who stayed in her lane— but would always offer a kind ear if you needed it.”
