Araceli Buendia Ilagan is a 63-year-old Miami nurse who had died by coronavirus after working on the front lines to help patients hit by the dangerous bug. She worked in the Intensive care unit of Jackson Memorial Hospital. The hospital is a non-profit, tertiary care teaching hospital with around 1,550 licensed beds.

Ilagancame down with the illness while working in the intensive care unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The Jackson Health System, which runs the hospital, confirmed on Saturday, March 28th that she “recently died from complications of COVID-19.”
Araceli Buendia Ilagan Brother’s Statement
Her brother, Roy Buendia, mourned her death Saturday in a Facebook post, saying she was on the front lines in the coronavirus battle.
“She was nursing those patients with [coronavirus] in their hospital and unfortunately contracted [it] and became unwell,” he wrote.
“My dearest sister, we admired you for your dedication to your profession. You’re a true ‘hero’ in this fight against Covid-19 and positively touched many lives.”
