Barbara is a Breast Cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and underwent a lumpectomy. She says she tries to grab each day and suck every drop.
While growing up as a family, the family upheld their religious beliefs. They would have prayers before dinner, and the family would pray every Saturday before a football game. “And, ladies, we prayed to win!” Dooley said firmly. “There wasn’t any of that talk about ‘the best team.’ We prayed to win!”

Barbara met her future husband Vince when she was 16 and a student at Woodmont High School in Montgomery, Alabama. They married in 1960 when Vince was 28 years old. They remained married for a record 67 years.
Barbara graduated from Auburn University (1953) and the North Carolina State College of Education (1971). On the other hand, Vince is a graduate of Auburn University (bachelor’s degree in business management 1954, Master’s in history 1963), where he played college football and later coached under Ralph “Shug” Jordan. He was a Phi Kappa Theta fraternity member as an undergraduate at Auburn. He served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps.
In 2002, Barbara unsuccessfully ran for the 12th District for Savannah, Augusta, and Athens. As a realtor, Barbara brings her signature down-home charm as she works with clients to find their dream homes. She is knowledgeable about the market and ensures that her clients are happy with their purchases.
Vince and Barbara have four children, two sons, Daniel and Derek, and two daughters, Deanna and Denise. Their son, Derek Dooley, is an American football coach and former player who is a senior offensive analyst for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Derek served as the head football coach at Louisiana Tech University from 2007 to 2009 and at the University of Tennessee from 2010 to 2012.

The legendary coach, who led the University of Georgia Bulldogs to five SEC Championships in seven years,
passed away on Friday evening, Oct 28, 2022, at his home in Athens, Georgia. He was 90 years old.
His family, who was with him when he passed away, asked for privacy as they plan a wake and funeral ceremony for later this week.
