Igor Fruman is a Belarus-born Florida businessmen renown for being one of the donors to a pro-Trump fundraising committee who helped Rudy Giuliani’s efforts to investigate Democrat Joe Biden. He was arrested on Wednesday alongside his Soviet-born compatriot, Lev Parnas on criminal charges of violating campaign finance rules, including funneling Russian money into President Trump’s campaign.

Lav Parnas and Igor Fruman are prolific fundraisers for the Republican Party
On March 31st, 2019 Giuliani brought Parnas and Fruman to a fundraising dinner of the National Council of Young Israel, an Orthodox Jewish group that describes itself on its website as “embracing Americanism and Zionism through the prism of Torah-true Judaism.”
Parnas and Igor have been prolific fundraisers for the Republican Party. Their natural gas company, Global Energy Producers, has donated more than $400,000 to GOP candidates and committees. It has also given $325,000 to a pro-Trump super-PAC called America First Action, a gift that led the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan watchdog group, to file a complaint with the Federal Election Commission. Global Energy Producers, the group says, is a shell corporation set up for the “purpose of anonymously funneling” large donations.
Igor Fruman Intentionally Misspelled his name to evade FEX Scrutiny
Fruman is accused of intentionally misspelling his name as to further evade FEC scrutiny. Fundraising records show that an “Igor Furman” who otherwise matches Mr. Fruman made additional campaign donations totaling almost $400,000, beginning in March 2018. That would bring the pair’s contributions to about $1 million.
Lav Parnas and Igor Fruman Indictment
As per the Wall Street Journal, Parnas and Igor Fruman had been under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan, and are expected to appear in federal court in Virginia later Thursday, October 11th.
They were arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 10th on criminal charges of violating campaign finance rules, including funneling Russian money into President Trump’s campaign.

In the complaint that sparked the Ukraine inquiry on Capitol Hill, the whistleblower noted concerns that President Trump was “using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country” in the upcoming presidential election.
The whistleblower report also repeatedly mentioned Giuliani’s involvement in Ukraine – and his work with Parnas and Fruman, who are referred to as his “two associates”.
House Democrats have been seeking information from Parnas, Fruman and a third man, Semyon Kislin, as part of their impeachment inquiry against Trump. Parnas was scheduled to give a deposition to three House committees on Thursday, Oct. 11th, 2019.
