Ben Unwin Biography
Ben Unwin was an Austrian actor best known for his role as Jesse McGregor on the television soap opera Home and Away. He later completed a law degree shortly after leaving the show and worked as a senior solicitor in Sydney. Unwin death was announced on August 29, 2019 after he was found dead on 14 August 2019.
Unwin also worked in the music industry directing videos for Culture Club including single I Just Wanna Be Loved and Chumbawamba’s smash hit Tubthumping.
During an interview in 1997 he had spoken about his ambition to become a pop star and said he wanted to follow in the footsteps of legendary singer George Michael.
“I love playing the guitar and I’m launching myself as a solo artist in the New Year. I’m going to bring out a single. I’d love to be as big as George Michael one day – but we’ll see.”

Ben began his career in acting at an early age, at the age of 12 he had his first role, playing as the lead role in the ‘Seven Little Australians’ Musical. The theatrical play continued for about a year at the Footbridge Theatre.

Unwin played the role of ‘bad boy’ Jesse McGregor on the long-running Aussie soap from 1996 to 2000 and then from 2002 to 2005. He had auditioned for another role but he ended landing the role of Jesse which was specifically written for him.
He was nominated for Most Popular New Talent at the 1997 Logie Awards. Again in 1999 he was nominated for Best Actor and Sexiest Male from the Inside Soap Awards.
After the news about his death a spokesperson for Channel Seven and Home and Away said; “Cast and crew from Home and Away are saddened to learn of the passing of former castmate, Ben Unwin. Ben’s work in the role of Jesse McGregor is remembered with much affection. Ben’s family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Ben Unwin Death
On August 20, 2019 it was reported that officers from New South Wales Police found Unwin’s body at his home in Minyon Falls on August 14. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
NSW Police in a statement said: “Police attended Minyon Falls, Whian Whian, responding to a concern for welfare. The body of a 41-year-old man was located. The death has not been treated as suspicious.”
