Cameron Ely Biography

Cameron Ely was the son of Ron Ely and Valerie Lundeen. He allegedly stabbed his mother on October 15, 2019, at his parents’ home at Hope Ranch before he was shot dead by sheriff’s deputies. His father was unharmed during the attack.

Cameron attended high school at the Philips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. He later joined Harvard where he played as a quarterback in 2007. In 2009 it was reported that he wanted to switch from Harvard to Texas A&M although the transfer never took place.

Cameron Ely Parents

Cameron was the son of Ron Ely and Valerie Lundeen. Valerie was a former beauty pageant queen and Ron is an American actor and novelist best known for his role as Tarzan in the 1966 NBC series Tarzan.

In 2012 during an interview with Fanboy Planet Ely said the reason he stepped out of the business is because he was fully committed to his wife and children.

“I am fully committed to my wife and my children. That’s why I stepped out of the business because I wanted to spend more time to raise my kids.”

He later elaborated during an interview with the Daily Express where he said, “Late in life I had a young family. I decided to stop acting and work at home, as an author, that way I could be with the kids all through school and be able to attend their sports games and things.”

Cameron has two siblings, sisters known as Kirsten and Kaitland.

Cameron Ely Killed his Mother Valerie Lundeen

Cameron is suspected of killing his mother who was found dead of stab wounds at 8:15 p.m. on October 16, 2019, in her home in the Hope Ranch along Mariposa Drive area of Santa Barbara. Officers were called to the home after receiving a report about a family disturbance. When sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, they found that Valerie Lundeen, 63, had been stabbed to death. Ron Ely, 81, was also found in the home, unharmed.

According to TMZ, Cameron allegedly called the police after allegedly killing his mother. TMZ obtained dispatch audio of law enforcement, saying a man called from the home saying his father tried to attack his mother. The operator says he was out of breath and crying.

TMZ also reported that they obtained police dispatch audio where a first responder describes an “elderly gentleman” on scene saying his son was somehow involved in the incident.

Cameron Ely Death

Cameron was shot dead at 9:40 p.m. after a standoff with officers. The officers found him hiding in his parents’ property. When he was located by officers on the property, the sheriff’s department said that the suspect “presented a threat.”

Lieutenant Erik Raney, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office public information officer told KEYT-TV that no officers were hurt and that there were multiple deputies involved in the shooting.

“We don’t know exactly how many shots were fired. We did have several deputies that were involved in the shooting. Fortunately, all of our deputies are OK.”
