Christina Mauser Biography
Christina Michelle Mauser was an assistant coach at Harbor Day School in Corona Del Mar, California. She also helped coach Bryant’s Mamba Sports Academy team. She died in the helicopter crash that killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna on January 26, 2020.
Christina Mauser Husband
Christina was married to Matt Mauser who is the lead singer of the party/rock band, Tijuana Dogs. He founded the group in 1997 with his friend Marcos de la Cruz. A few months later, Matt called upon his college guitar teacher, Dave Murdy, to join the band. Long-time friend and bassist Rick Deeb rounded out the group in 1998.
Matt confirmed the death of his wife on Facebook, writing, My kids and I are devastated. We lost our beautiful wife and mom today in a helicopter crash. Please respect our privacy. Thank you for all the well wishes they mean so much.”
During a Monday’s interview with the Today Show Matt said that he was trying to navbigate life with three kids and no mom. He added that he was scared about the future.
He said Kobe didn’t choose Christina for just any ordinary reason, he described her as “extraordinary. She was witty, incredibly witty. Funny — funny like nobody you’e ever met … She was warm. She was incredibly bright. She was technologically incredibly savvy, she could figure out anything.” He added, “My wife could break you down in two seconds, she knew how to figure you out. … She was incredibly deep.”

According to CNN Christina was an assistant girls basketball coach at a private elementary school in Orange County which has since been identified as Harbor Day School in Corona Del Mar, California.
On January 15, 2020 her husband, Matt Mauser, wrote on Facebook “Proud of my wife! She and Kobe did a clinic for WNBA players up at the Mamba Academy! Big Time Baby!”

Christina died in a plane crash on January 26, 2020 which also killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant and one of his daughters, Gianna Bryant, and 6 other people. They were all headed to Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks for a basketball game scheduled for Sunday. Gianna was expected to play in the game and Bryant was expected to coach. Christina was also an assistant coach.
The plane crashed about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles and caused a bush fire. The crash killed all nine people on board.
