Claudine Auger whose birth name is Claudine Oger was born on April 26th, 1941 and died on December 18th, 2019. She was a French actress best known for her role as Bond girl, Dominique “Domino” Derval, in the James Bond film Thunderball (1965). She earned the title of Miss France Monde and was also the first runner-up in the 1958 Miss World contest.

Claudine began her career as a model before representing France and becoming runner-up in the 1958 Miss World competition.
Se appeared on stage and in films including Jean Cocteau’s The Testament of Orpheus in 1960 before winning the part in Thunderball over several other better-known actresses including Rachel Welch, Faye Dunaway, and Julie Christie.
For her role in the Bond film, Auger — a particularly strong athlete standing 5′ 8″ — performed all her own stunts including the underwater swimming scenes.
Following her international breakthrough, Auger continued to act, appearing in films, mostly French and Italian productions and on British television as well. Several of the movies she appeared in were directed by Jacques Deray with whom she had a long term relationship.
In 1994, Auger appeared in the British television series The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, in “The Three Gables” as Isadora Klein, in one of the last episodes of that series starring Jeremy Brett.
Whether it was playing in a 007 or playing Moliere it “was the same thing,”‘ she once told an interviewer. “It was a game.”
Claudine Auger Husband, Children
Claudine’s first marriage then aged 18 was to writer-director Pierre Gaspard-Huit in 1959. They would later divorce and she went on to marry her second husband, a British businessman, Peter Brent in the 1980s. The couple had one child, Jessica Claudine Brent (b. 1991). Brent died in August 2008.
