Cleopatra Singleton is the daughter of the late American film director, screenwriter, and producer John Singleton who was known for directing Boyz n the Hood (1991). She is a Sophomore In College and has also appeared in one of her father’s films, Baby Boy.

He was the first African American to be nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards and was also the youngest at the age of 24. He suffered a stroke in April and died on 29th April 2019 at the age of 51.

Cleopatra Singleton Feud With Sheila Ward

After Singleton mother, Sheila Ward petition to be named conservator of Singleton estate said in court Cleopatra opposed the decision. In a court filing on 26th April, Cleopatra claimed that her grandmother, Sheila Ward, was “misrepresenting” his father’s medical condition.

She called Ward’s behaviour toward Singleton and his children “disturbing.” She further said that in a family meeting with doctors two days ago, she was told her father’s condition is “progressing every day” and he could be out of the ICU within five days.

Cleopatra Singleton wrote; “My father is breathing on his own. He is only medically sedated to keep his blood pressure low and allow the vessels in his brain to heal. My father responds to stimuli and has even smiled on many occasions.”

Cleopatra also indicated that it would be a conflict of interest if her grandmother, who is also Singleton’s personal and business manager, would be “in control of both his medical and business affairs.”

Her filling stated; “She has abused this position particularly pertaining to the support of his children. Sadly my father’s allowed his mother to stay in that position out of fear and obligation to her as she’s bullied and abandoned my father since he was a small child, leaving him emotionally defenceless. She had already stated that she plans to liquidate his assets immediately and leave his children with nothing, even to go as far as to sell his house and remove his girlfriend and infant son the premises.”

Cleopatra recommended that her older brother Maasai or her grandfather Danny be named conservator of her father and his estate instead of Ward.

Cleopatra Singleton Seeks Money from Father’s Estate

According to TMZ, John Singleton’s daughter, Cleopatra needs help with her bills and she wants her late father’s estate to cough up the dough every month. She filed a petition with her father’s estate requesting a monthly allowance of $2,778 per month. Cleopatra is also asking for a one-time payment of $4,150 to cover her study abroad program as per new legal docs obtained by TMZ.

In the docs, Cleopatra says she’s a student and her father used to cover all of her bills — cell phone, car note, utilities, etc. But, since his tragic passing, Cleopatra says she’s struggled to keep up. She wants the allowance for now until the estate works out how to distribute John’s fortune. Cleopatra says that could take at least another year, if not more.

John’s entire estate could be worth around $35 million. John’s mother, Sheila Ward, is the estate’s administrator, and Cleopatra’s had legal scuffles with her.
