Connor Phillips, a freshman at Taylor University, died on Tuesday, Oct 18, 2022. The school’s athletic body announced that he was suffering from a preexisting health condition. Phillips came to Taylor from Franklin, Tennessee, majoring in exercise science.

Connor was part of the Men’s Lacrosse team at the university and played as a goalie. Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. He held the first position as a goalie where he positioned himself between the goalposts, and his/her top responsibility is to stop the ball from going into the net.

Connor Phillips Death & Cause

Connor died on Tuesday 18, 2022 as earlier reported. His uncle had written a post requesting for people to pray for him as at the time, he was bedridden in a hospital.

Connor’s cousin, Sandy Carlson Schenck wrote, “Urgent prayer request for my cousin’s son, Connor Phillips, who is a freshman at Taylor Univ. (he plays Lacrosse there) He’s at the hospital and needs a miracle ?”

“Words cannot express the sadness we all feel at the death of Connor Phillips,” said Taylor Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Kyle Gould. “Our prayers are with Connor’s family, friends, teammates, and coaching staff. Connor impacted the lives of those he interacted with during his time at Taylor and he will be deeply missed.”

Carolyn M. Jones wrote in a tribute, “Please pray for Taylor students today as they mourn the loss of freshman Connor Phillips. I don’t have a lot of details, but Connor died yesterday from a pre-existing medical condition. They will remember him today with a chapel of worship and lament and then again this evening at a special prayer meeting for Homecoming.

He was in Tom’s Foundations if Freedom class.”
