Marsha Edwards Biography
Marsha Edwards is an Atlanta 58-year-old woman who is suspected of killing her two children Erin Edwards and Chris Edwards and later committing suicide on August 21, 2019. She worked as a surgical and medical equipment distributor for her own company, MME Enterprises, LLC. In 2019 she was honored by Women Works Media Group as one of Atlanta’s 100 most powerful and influential women.
Marsha Edwards, MD Education
Marsha graduated from Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She later attended Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, LA graduating with a Doctor of Medicine, MD. She participated in the Family Medicine program at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.
Marsha Edwards Career
Marsha began her career as a clinical consultant for ICN Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Marietta, GA. At ICN Pharmaceuticals, she evaluated the effect of the drug ribavirin on immunocompromised children with Respiratory Syncytial Virus.
She later expanded her career in the evaluation and implementation of personal injury and worker compensation programs at Atlanta Neurological & Spine Institute, LLC.
In 2014 she became the sales consultant, specializing in upper and lower extremity orthotics and spinal braces, at Biocraft, LLC in Atlanta, GA. In 2015 she established MME Enterprises, LLC which is a local medical equipment supplier company.
Marsha Edwards Husband (Chris Edwards)
Marsha was married to Dr. Christopher Edwards but they had divorced at the time of her death. Christopher is a prominent Atlanta-area surgeon and chairman of the board of commissioners for the Atlanta Housing Authority. He also sits on the board of trustees for the Morehouse School of Medicine.
After the deaths a statement was released on his behalf which said; “Dr. Christopher Edwards learned Wednesday of the death of his former wife, Dr. Marsha Edwards, and his two adult children, Christopher Edwards, Jr. and Erin Edwards. Dr. Edwards, his extended family and friends are in a state of grief and shock, and privacy of the family is paramount as arrangements are being made.”

Marsha together with her ex-husband Christopher Edwards had two children together; Erin Edwards, 20-year-old and Chris Edwards, 24-year-old.

Erin was a student at Boston University and interned this summer at WNBC in New York. On April 20 Erin took to Facebook to congratulate her mother after she was honored by Women Works Media Group as one of Atlanta’s 100 most powerful and influential women of 2019.
Marsha Edwards Son (Chris Edwards)
Chris Edwards was a digital content manager for the City of Atlanta and worked in the Mayor’s Office of Entertainment.
Marsha together with her children had recently attended the National Association of Black Journalists annual conference in Miami. After their death NABJ President Dorothy M. Tucker tweeted; “The #NABJ family has lost three of our own. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of Marsha Edwards, Christopher Edwards II and Erin Edwards.This tragedy has claimed the lives of three members, but touches countless more.”

Marsha Edwards Death
On August 21, 2019 the bodies of Marsha and her two children Erin and Chris were found inside the residence in the 3000 block of Nobilty Way in Vinings around 6 p.m. The Cobb County Police later said the deaths were ruled as a murder-suicide alleging that Marsha killed her two children and later committed suicide.
Police said 20-year-old Erin Edwards and 24-year-old Chris Edwards died of gunshot wounds, and 58-year-old Marsha Edwards died of “an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
According to Cobb County Police they were called to a townhome on Nobilty Way Wednesday around 6 p.m. to conduct a welfare check. That is when they found 20-year-old Erin Edwards and 24-year-old Chris Edwards dead of gunshot wounds. Marsha was also dead of “an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms offered the Edwards family condolences on behalf of her and her husband Derek.
“Derek and I join the greater Atlanta community in mourning the loss of three members of the beloved Edwards family. Chris and Erin were beautiful, vibrant, and brilliant young adults, whom we had the pleasure of knowing their entire lives. They filled the lives of all who met them with joy, compassion, and kindness. May the peace of God, that surpasses all understanding, be with the Edwards family and all who had the honor to have known them.”
Benjamin Berkowitz, WNBC vice president of digital, who also served as Erin’s supervisor, called her gifted and passionate storyteller; “Her enthusiasm was infectious and her smile lit up a room. “She was an incredibly decent, kind person who earned our admiration. Her talent was truly God-given. All of us at WNBC extend our condolences to Erin’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
