Emma Thomson, who worked as a Communications Director in the Office of Rep Jackie Walorski at the U.S. House of Representatives, was among the four people killed, including Walorski, in a car accident near Nappanee, Indiana. Emma, who had a promising career, studied Political Communication at George Washington University.

On her Linkedin, Emma wrote that she started working as the Communications Director at the office of Walorski from July 2021 until her death in 2022. She previously worked as a Campaign Manager for Dr Joh Joyce, who ran for congress from Jan 2020 to July 2021. Before that, she served as John Joyce’s Communication Director from Sep 2019 to July 2021. Besides the two congressmen, she also worked in the same capacity for Michael C. Burgess from May 2017 to August 2019.
The other roles she has held include as a Digital Communications Assistant at Democracy Fund and Press Assistant for Marco Rubio for President.
Emma Thomson Death & Cause
Emma Thomson was among four people killed near Nappanee, Indiana, when a vehicle traveling northbound on State Road 19 on August 3, 2022. The vehicle veered left and collided head-on with Jackie Walorski’s vehicle. Walroski was a political US rep for Indiana’s 2nd congressional district from 2013.
Walorski’s vehicle traveling southbound, contained two other passengers: Walorski’s communications director, Emma Thomson, and her district director, Zachery Potts. The collision occurred near the intersection with State Road 119.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy confirmed her death “with a heavy heart.” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) called the congresswoman, who had been a member of his whip team, “a champion for the people of Indiana.”
“Jackie and her staffers died serving her constituents. In a statement, they will be missed, and our nation will miss their service,” Scalise said.
