Eric Lertzman Biography

Eric Lertzman (Eric Jack Lertzman) was a deputy city attorney who allegedly killed his wife Sandra Lertzman and their adult son Michael Lertzman. It is alleged that he shot his wife and son and later killed himself. His daughter narrowly escaped by running outside in her pajamas, where she flagged down a neighbor and told him her dad tried to shoot her.

Eric was married to Sandy Lertzman, she shared selfies with Eric on her Facebook. She shared that the two had been married for more than 30 years. In 2016 she posted a photo of themselves in front of the U.S. Supreme Court which she captioned;

Eric Lertzman Children

Eric together with his wife had two children together Michael Lertzman and Rachel Lertzman. According to Rachel’s Facebook page, she works for a non-profit in Los Angeles designed to improve community wellness. She studied Environmental Studies and International Politics.

Eric Lertzman Murder and Suicide

On Wednesday, September 11, 2019 Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer identified a lawyer at his office, Eric Lertzman, as one of three people who died in an apparent domestic violence shooting in Northridge. Feuer said that Eric Lertzman, his wife and their adult son were found dead inside the home.

According to Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Mike Kozak officers were dispatched to the 9600 block of Vanalden Avenue around 9 a.m. after receiving a call of a shooting in progress. When they arrived at the house, officers located three victims, all apparently deceased. The victims all had gunshot wounds; police recovered at least two handguns at the scene.

The lieutenant said that a fourth person inside the home, a woman in her 20s, managed to escape and was uninjured. Greg Demos, a neighbor told KTLA that the woman ran out of the home in her pajamas and said that her father had tried to shoot her.

Demos told KTLA-TV that the young woman was “upset, confused, distraught, somewhat in shock” and told him, “I don’t know what to tell you Greg but this is what just happened in my house, and I don’t know what to do. My dad took a shot at me, and my mom and my brother are still inside.”

Shooting in Northridge – Northridge Murder Suicide

The elected Los Angeles City Attorney, Mike Feuer released a statement following the murder on what he called the “Northridge tragedy”.

He wrote; “It is with shock and profound sadness that we announce that today Deputy City Attorney Eric Lertzman was involved in a tragic incident which we understand resulted in the death of his wife, his adult son and himself.

As we search for answers to how this could happen, we mourn the victims and envelop those left behind with our love at this time of unbearable loss. Of course, we will provide members of our City Attorney Family with needed counseling and support.”
