Hans Berglund Racist
Hans was caught on camera on Friday, January 31, 2020, about 9 p.m. using racial slur on his Uber driver, an American Arizona State University student. The incident happened after the driver, identified as Randy Clarke, asked him not to sit in the front seat as he has a sign on the inside and outside of his car that clearly state, “Front seat use is reserved for parties of three or more.”
According to the video as Han tried to hop in upfront Clarke asked him, “Mind sitting in the back.” Han replied that he didn’t like it when people sit in the front. They continued going back and forth. Han asked him, “Are you f***ing serious with me?”
“No, I don’t like when people sit in the front. I’ll cancel and refund you.”
They both agreed to cancel the trip but Han then hopped in the back.”I’m here, sitting in the back,” said the rider.
“Sir, please leave my vehicle.”
“Is it because I’m White? And you’re a f****ing N******? You are a f***ing idiot.”
Clarke told ABC15 that he was in shock and didn’t known it was real, “I was in shock. And I shamelessly felt like laughing because I did not know this was real. It’s not just any word.”
Clarke quickly filed a complaint with Uber but had a gut feeling the passenger was a person with some power. “Something told me inside that this man is probably a business owner.”
Clarke also revealed the reason why he doesn’t allow people to sit in the front seat, unless it is reserved for parties of three or more, is because in 2018 he was sexually assaulted.
According to a statement, it is “a policy Clarke practices after having been sexually assaulted in 2018 by a male passenger who grabbed his crotch while he was driving the vehicle. Clarke has clearly printed signs detailing this policy and why he prefers that customers ride in the backseat. Uber authorized the rule after the sexual assault to limit the risk of Clarke being sexually assaulted by any other passengers.”
After the incidence Uber told ABC15 that they have launched an investigation as discrimination is a violation of their Community Guidelines.
“Discrimination has no place on the Uber app or anywhere. What’s been described is a clear violation of our Community Guidelines and we launched an investigation as soon as we learned of it.”
