Is Celina Mays still alive? Missing, Wiki, Age, Baby Father, Parents, Church, Today

Celina Janette Mays was a 12-year-old happy young girl who went missing in December 1996. She was 9 months pregnant by the time she was reported missing. This remains one chilling mystery that has not been resolved as yet. Her story will be featured on CBS3 Mysteries, which will seek to examine the case of Celina Mays from Burlington County. There have been few clues on the case, and detectives have still not given up on the case.

Celina Mays Church – Mount Holly Church

According to CBS, Celina lived a quiet life in the suburban street of Willingboro with her family and was part of a choir at the church, Mount Holly, that the family attended. Mays’s family had a strong connection with the church, which has been defunct for years. It currently goes by the name of the gospel of Christ Ministry. The detective says the pastor who was ministering when Mays went missing is currently dead, and other church officials are unreachable.

Celina Mays Case is Still on

According to Detective Monica Pogorzelski, who inherited the 25-year-old cold case, Celina went missing in the middle of the night, as reported by her father, C.J. Mays. The detective says 254 leads have been investigated throughout the 25 years, and they currently have four more leads that are being investigated.

The detectives have used face progression photos to show how Celina would look if she were alive today. The surviving family members are still hopeful for answers.

“As far as we know, she was accepting of the pregnancy,” Pogorzelski said. “And ready to move forward, so for her to go missing after carrying a baby for nine months, it’s very strange.”

Investigators believe there’s a possible connection between the disappearance and the church

The detectives handling the case say that Celina could be living with a different name today and could be unaware that police are looking for her. They also say the church could have had a hand in her disappearance because its long leadership at the closed-down worship site encouraged other members to avoid cooperating with police.  They say the church had affiliations in other states.

“As far as we know, she was accepting of the pregnancy,” Pogorzelski said. “And ready to move forward, so for her to go missing after carrying a baby for nine months, it’s very strange.”

Investigators believe there’s a possible connection between the disappearance and the church.
