Jack Burns was a Scottish child actor best known for his role in the Starz series Outlander 2014 and for his exceptional dancing skills.  He also starred in several popular TV shows, including time-travel drama Outlander, thriller miniseries In Plain Sight, and several other BBC productions.

He is reported to have died suddenly on December 1st, 2019 aged 14 as per a statement from the Elite Academy.

Burns was a student of the Elite Academy of Dance — Greenock’s Royal Academy Classical Ballet School in Glasgow. He achieved a spot at the Elite Academy of Dance when he was 9 years old. He was also a student at the UK Theatre School Performing Arts Academy.

Jack appeared on Outlander in 2014, then appeared in a BBC thriller called Plain Sight, as well as several other BBC productions.

Jack Burns Death

Jack was found dead at his parent’s home in Greenock, Scotland, on December 1st, 2019. He was aged 14.

Elite Academy of Dance paid tribute to Burns in a Facebook statement which reads:

“It is with a very heavy heart that we write this post. Tragically as you know we lost our much-loved student Jack Burns on Sunday the 1st of December. Jack was an inspiration to everyone at Elite and touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of working and dancing with him since 2012. We and all of Jack’s family and friends are naturally completely devastated and at a loss for words and answers.”

Jack’s Family said in a statement that “his funeral service will be at 10.00 am at St Mary’s Church, Patrick Street, Greenock, on Thursday 12th December.”

Jack Burns Parents thanked Everyone for their Thoughts and Prayers

Jack’s parents in a statement said that “they were very grateful for all the thoughts and prayers from the Elite School. They also expressed their wish for UKTheatreSchool to post the information on social media platforms so that everyone who wants to attend Jack’s funeral has all of the necessary information.”

“Jack Burns’ family have said that anyone who would like to attend his funeral is more than welcome. They have also mentioned that children and young people from Jack’s ballet schools will be wearing their youth group hoodies as a tribute to Jack and the groups that he loved to attend. Jack’s family have asked that if your child is attending, then it would be lovely to do similar and wear their UKTS hoodies in Jack’s honour.⁣”

Jack Burns Cause of Death

Jack Burns’ cause of death was not immediately clear. He was reportedly found dead at his and his parents’ home in Greenock, Inverclyde in Scotland. The police say they are not treating his death as suspicious.
