Little was hired as the CEO of Ottawa Senators Hockey Club less than two months ago when Senators owner Eugene Melnyk announced Little’s arrival as “part of our long-term strategy to redevelop and rebuild,” and that he will be “ushering in a new era for our club and fans.”

The Ottawa Senators fired chief executive officer Jim Little Wednesday morning, March 4th, saying his conduct was “inconsistent” with the core values of the NHL and the Senators hockey organization.

Other managers are covering his duties until his replacement is announced, which is expected within a few weeks, the team said.

“An executive search firm has already begun work on identifying appropriate candidates,” the team’s statement said. The Senators did not release details of incidents or circumstances leading to their decision.

Prior to being hired by the Senators, Little had left Shaw Communications, a Calgary-based telecommunications company, where he was executive vice president and chief marketing and culture officer. He previously held senior executive roles at Royal Bank of Canada, Bell Canada, and Bombardier Aerospace.
