Joanne Laidley is best known for being the wife of Dean Laidley, an Australian rules football assistant coach and former player, who played for the West Coast Eagles and North Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 1987 to 1997, including in North Melbourne’s 1996 premiership side.

It is being reported that the Former North Melbourne coach Dean Laidley has been remanded in custody on one count of stalking and other charges yet to be revealed. He was arrested in St Kilda on Saturday, May 2nd, and will remain behind bars after not applying for bail. Laidley is charged with one count of stalking while more will be revealed about the other charges in court on May 11th.
After his arrest, photos of Dean wearing a wig and makeup during a police interview were leaked. Laidley’s lawyer, Dee Giannopolous, blasted the release of the images, which also included a police profile shot, on Twitter.
They appeared to have been taken from inside the police interview room where, according to the West Australia, Laidley demanded to be called ‘Daniella’. “Outraged that pictures of my client, taken by some police officer, on the sly, when in custody in an interview have hit the media. Typical,” Giannopolous tweeted.

Laidley’s wife is Joanne. Although it is not clear when the couple got married, they have three children, Kane Laidley, Molly Laidley, and Brooke Laidley.
Back in 2011, Laidley and his family were attacked by bouncers at the Bounty night club in Bali, Indonesia after his daughter’s, Molly Laidley wedding. His son Kane received a broken jaw while Laidler required stitches after being hit in the head with a bottle.
Asked if he feared for the lives of his family members following the attack, Laidley said: “It was the scariest 20 minutes of your life. We are counting our blessings as we speak, we really are. “My wife is still over there, my daughter, my eldest daughter, her husband, and his mum and dad, and other friends and their older kids. “They’re are all over there and until they get back I just don’t know … I am distraught.”
Dean Laidley Melbourne
Laidley was part of the 1996 North Melbourne premiership team as a player before going on to coach the club between 2003 and 2009. He was then part of coaching groups at Port Adelaide and St Kilda before most recently joining Carlton as an assistant.
Laidley became a North Melbourne life member in 2019.
