John Drew Sheard is the bishop and pastor of the Church of God in Christ and was elected to the COGIC General Board in November of 2012. He best known for being the husband of Gospel recording artist and former member of the Clark Sisters, Karen Clark Sheard and also for being the father of famous Gospel recording artist, Kierra Valencia “KiKi” Sheard.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Wayne State University and went on to do a Masters of in Mathematics. In December of 2002, Pastor Sheard received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by the St. Thomas Christian College.
John Drew Sheard Wife & Karen Clark Sheard
Drew and Karen celebrated their marriage on June 15th, 1984. His wife is an American Grammy Award-winning gospel singer, musician, and songwriter. Clark–Sheard is popularly known as the youngest member of the American gospel group The Clark Sisters. Together they have two children: Kierra “Kiki” Sheard (1987) and John Drew “J. Drew” Sheard II (1989).
In 2001, Clark-Sheard was faced with a life-threatening crisis when a blood vessel burst during a scheduled bariatric surgery. Her doctors only gave her a 2% chance of survival due to her complications. After the blood clot was surgically removed, Clark-Sheard fell into a coma. The coma lasted three and a half weeks, but Clark-Sheard says she made a miraculous recovery.

The coupley have two children: Kierra “Kiki” Sheard (1987) and John Drew “J. Drew” Sheard II (1989). Kiki is also a gospel recording artist, with four albums, plus various projects to her credit. J. Drew is a musician and producer. He has a son named Jacob Dillon Sheard and a daughter named Kali Drew Sheard.
Kierra Sheard portrayed Litha in the 2010 Christian-drama film Preacher’s Kid. After appearing on her mother’s albums, Sheard broke to the music scene with the release of her debut album I Owe You in 2004. Her hit single “You Don’t Know” was written about her mother’s bout with an almost fatal blood clot.
John Drew Sheard Ministry
Bishop Drew was saved at a such a young age, under the Pastorate of the late Bishop John Seth Bailey. He accepted his call to the Ministry under the mentorship of his biological father, Bishop John H. Sheard.
He currently serves as Prelate of North Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Michigan and is the Senior Pastor of Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ.
Drew was selected to the office of National AIM Chairman in 2008, but when his season ended in 2012, he stepped down from his position to run for the COGIC General Board. He was replaced by Superintendent Linwood Dillard. After a long year of rigid campaigning for The General Board in early to mid-2012, Bishop Sheard was elected to the General Board with a majority vote from many of the COGIC delegates from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Canada.
