John Fordham Career
John Fordham first made his name doing public relations for Qantas before starting up his own celebrity management agency, concentrating on media and sporting identities, including this correspondent. His company, The Fordham Company was founded in the 70s. Over the years he managed everyone from Jones, Laws, Stuart and Chappell, to Richie Benaud, Tracy Grimshaw, Paul Roos, Craig Bellamy, Sylvia Jeffreys and my wife, Lisa Wilkinson.
In business, Fordham played the game ruthlessly, driving hard to get the best contracts for his clients. Personally, he was unfailingly warm and engaging.

As the family held each other around the bed, it was his daughter Sarah who said it, addressing him by his family nickname. “Just let go, Jack, just let go.” Her father let go, and he passed away minutes later.
Ben Fordham paid tribute to his dad on Instagram on Monday morning, Nov. 11th, writing: “My dad has passed away. It was the most peaceful goodbye. We were all there with him and feel blessed.
“What a bloke. When we were growing up, he spent every spare minute playing on the street with all of the neighbourhood kids. He built a business with my mum that set the standard for public relations and personality management. He was a wonderful donor to charity and established the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation.
“As a mate, he was the best. If any of his family or friends or clients were in trouble, he’d go to war. ‘If you grab the tail, you get the whole tiger’ – that was Jack.
