Judith Brown is best known for being the wife of Rock Legend Jerry Lee Lewis. Jerry was reported by TMZ to have passed away on October 26, 2022, at the age of 87, but the news later turned out to be false. The Gossip News site later clarified that they had been informed by someone claiming to be Lewis’s rep that the Rock Legend had passed away. News of his death was later confirmed on Oct 28, 2022.

Jerry Lee Lewis and his wife Judith were married in Jackson, Mississippi on Wednesday, June 7, 2012, at the First Baptist Church. The ceremony was conducted by Rev John Taylor with Lewis’ father and brother as witnesses and included a reception at the couple’s home. Judith Brown had been widowed for many years and Lewis asked her to marry him that Christmas.

Brown had been providing round-the-clock medical care for Lewis since 2006. Lewis had met his third wife, Shawn Stephens, in 2000 at the Grand Ole Opry, where she was a member of the Sweetheart Band. The couple dated for three years and married in 2003. Jerry and Shawn Lewis divorced in 2004.

Jerry’s first marriage was at the age of 16 when he married Dorothy Barton, the daughter of a preacher.  Their union lasted for 20 months from February 1952 to October 1953.

His second marriage in September 1953, to Jane Mitchum, was of dubious validity because it occurred 23 days before his divorce from Barton was final. After four years, Lewis filed for divorce in October 1957. The couple had two children: Jerry Lee Lewis Jr. (1954–1973) and Ronnie Guy Lewis (b. 1956).

In 1961, he married his third wife, 13-year-old Myra Gale Brown, a dental hygienist on December 12, 1957. However, his divorce from Jane Mitchum was not finalized before the ceremony took place, so he remarried Brown on June 4, 1958.  He had two sons with her, their firstborn was born Steve Allen Lewis was born in 1959 and died in 1962. The second child, Phoebe Allen Lewis Lewis (born in August 1962).  In 1970, Brown filed for divorce on the grounds of adultery and abuse, charging that she had been “subject to every type of physical and mental abuse imaginable.”

In an interview which aired on VH1’s Behind The Music in 1999, Lewis claimed that he was not aware of Myra’s true age (14 at the time) when he married her; although this is contradicted by official documentation of their marriage which lists her year of birth as 1935. He also claimed that he only discovered her real age when she applied for a passport to go on tour with him in 1958. Other reports suggest that Lewis did know of Myra’s age, but pursued her anyway.

Jerry Lee’s fourth marriage was to Jaren Elizabeth Gunn Pate whom he married in October 1971 and their marriage lasted until June 8, 1982. Pate drowned in a swimming pool at the home of a friend with whom she was staying, several weeks before divorce proceedings could be finalized. They had one daughter, Lori Lee Lewis (b. 1972).

Mary Kathy “K.K.” Jones of San Antonio, Texas, testified in court during Lewis’ income tax evasion trial in 1984 that she lived with him from 1980 to 1983.

His fifth marriage, to Shawn Stephens, lasted 77 days, from June to August 1983, ending with her death. Journalist Richard Ben Cramer alleged that Lewis abused her and may have been responsible for her death, but the allegations have never been verified.
