Justin Ellis is a 34-year-old off-duty NYPD sergeant who shot a personal trainer inside his home following an argument with the man — who was home alone with the cop’s wife. The shooting happened at his home on Long Island early Friday morning October 25th, as per ABC’s News 4.

Justin Ellis Shots Trainer after finding him in his house with wife

Police responded to the sergeant’s home near Sirrup Path and Locust Avenue in Seaford after receiving reports of gunfire on Friday morning, Just after midnight, October 25th. Ellis allegedly came home just after midnight to find the 29-year-old personal trainer inside. He says that he was confronted by the trainer with a baseball bat. Law enforcement sources confirm a bat was found at the scene. The trainer, whose name was not released, was shot in the chest but was expected to be OK.

According to a police source, “He told the guy to get out of his house. They had some words. The guy went to his car and got a bat. And he shot him.”

According to a law enforcement source, Sergeant Justin Ellis is a 12-year veteran of the NYPD who works out of Queens. The NYPD confirmed that the sergeant has been placed on modified duty and that his gun and shield have taken. No charges have been filed in the incident.

Jason Russo, the attorney of the personal trainer said his client is a personal trainer who has a relationship with the sergeant’s wife, though he declined to say whether it was professional or personal. Russo also wouldn’t say why his client had stopped by the home after midnight.

An attorney, Jason Russo for the trainer told News 4 that his client is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the chest. Russo alleges that the officer demanded his client leave the house, chased him down the block and then shot him in the chest. “He followed my client, accosted him with a firearm and shot him,” Russo said.
