Conor Ferguson was the husband to Keelin Shanley, an Irish journalist, newsreader, and presenter with RTÉ, Ireland’s national radio and television station, where she had presented the Six One News, alongside Caitríona Perry from January 2018 until her death in February 2020.

Conor Ferguson & Keelin Shanley – How did the Two Meet

Keelin Shanley found love after following her husband in real life, down Grafton Street! Keelin first saw Conor Ferguson in all his goth glory when she was a teenager and he became her sweetheart years later with the pair eventually marrying and welcoming two children into the world.

‘I met Conor when I was 14 walking down Grafton Street and he was all dolled up. He was a goth,’ she fondly recounted to EVOKE.ie.

‘I was with my cousin and I started following him,’ the 50-year revealed detailing how she essentially somewhat stalked him down Dublin’s main shopping street. I thought he was the best thing I’d ever seen,’ she gushed, ‘I couldn’t believe it!’

‘He would have been about 16 and he was very shy. He was like ‘Who are these bloody girls? I didn’t meet him that day, I just followed him for a while,’ the RTÉ Six One presenter laughed as she confessed.

Their first fateful encounter was not to be their last with the couple becoming very good friends over the coming years before eventually making the leap to being life long partners.

‘Conor was a really good friend of mine for years and years and years, you know yourself, hanging around town.’

As for when the friendship turned into something more, it appears absence made the heart grow fonder when Keelin left Irish shores.

‘I lived in Italy for a few years then I came back and met him at the Dublin Film Festival and that’s when we got together.’

The couple celebrated their wedding in 2000. They have two children Ben and Lucy
