Kent Mawhinney Wife
Kent’s wife name is unknown but they are in the middle of a divorce. Kent filed for divorce on January 14, 2019. He was arrested on January 21, 2019 by South Windsor Police and charged with sexual assault of a spouse, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of second-degree unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct.
Kent’s wife alleged that they were in the process of divorce and they permanently slept in separate rooms. She alleged that over the previous two nights Kent had been sexually aggressive.
She alleged that on January 19, Kent came into her room while she was watching television and made sexual advances toward her even though she told him, “No.” She said he then held her arms above her head and began to try to have sexual intercourse with her. But after she told him to stop four times, he gave up and went to bed, she said.
She added that the next evening, Sunday, Jan,20 Kent came to where was watching television about every half-hour to use the bathroom, even though there were four other bathrooms in the house. He tried to lie in bed next to her but, after she protested, he left, she said. She said she went and put a blanket on him because she still loved him.
As she put the blanket on Mawhinney, the woman said, he woke up and grabbed her. She said she lay down next to him and fell asleep for about 30 minutes, only to be awakened by him making aggressive sexual advances toward her. This time, she said, he succeeded in having sexual intercourse with her, which she said was extremely painful. She said she told him to stop because the sex was hurting, but he didn’t stop.
She said he tried to get her to engage in another sex act, but she pushed him away and he eventually left, only to come back and have sexual intercourse with her again. This time, she said, she allowed it in the hope of ending the interaction more quickly.
The woman described Mawhinney having sexual intercourse with her yet another time — and again causing her significant pain — later that night. At one point, she said, Mawhinney put his hands around her neck and squeezed, hurting her but not cutting off her oxygen, before she pushed him off her.
In July 2019 Mawhinney was charged with violating a protective order after he tried to contact his estranged wife through Fotis.

Kent Mawhinney Fotis Dulos
Kent previously represented Fotis Dulos in a civil lawsuit filed by Gloria Farber, Dulos’s mother-in-law. The dispute was over a loan which Farber claimed was more than $2.5 million but Dulos called it a gift.
Kent estranged wife claimed that Kent wanted her dead and that Dulos was working on behalf of Kent “to get rid of her.”
Dulos lawyer Pattis dismissed the claims and claimed that Kent’s estranged wife wanted “15 minutes of fame.”
“Really? It sound like she read the stories about the Jennifer Dulos disappearance and wanted her 15 minutes of fame. That’s just ridiculous.”
According to the warrant for Mawhinney’s arrest on a charge of violation of a protective order, Dulos invited Mawhinney’s wife to meetings, including one at his Farmington home, where she was to talk with her husband. The warrant also claimed that Mawhinney’s wife initially met with Dulos at Max’s Oyster Bar in West Hartford on May 19, but after telling Dulos she would not meet with Mawhinney unless their lawyers were present, Dulos abruptly paid the bill and left.
The warrant also adds that on May 21, Dulos again called Mawhinney’s wife to set up a meeting, but the woman told him she had talked to her lawyer and did not want to have any contact with her husband.
In June she filed a complaint alleging Mawhinney violated the terms of the protective order. She also talked to state police about her dealings with Dulos and expressed fear for her safety.
The warrant read; “She believed it was suspicious that Dulos has such a sudden vested interest in her relationship with Mawhinney. She stated she felt she was being ‘baited’ and was uncomfortable with the fact that Dulos kept inviting her back to his residence. She stated that she believed Dulos was ‘indebted’ to Mawhinney and that she believed Dulos was working on behalf of Mawhinney to get rid of her. She stated that she believed that Mawhinney wanted her dead.”
Kent Mawhinney Arrest
On January 7, 2020 an arrest warrant was issued against Mawhinney. Stamford Advocate said; “Sources said state police detectives showed up at the Family Court in Hartford looking for Mawhinney at around 1 p.m. A court clerk looked up information and told them that he was scheduled to be at the civil court across the street, sources said. The detectives immediately went to the civil court, but were told that he had just left.
A representative from Mawhinney’s office said she heard about his potential arrest on a conspiracy to commit murder and called the clients that had scheduled court dates to report that he was having a ‘personal emergency’ and likely wouldn’t make it. The woman had no official word on whether Mawhinney had been charged, she said. ‘He showed up for work as usual this morning.’”
