Kim Chandler William C. Holman Correctional Facility Dress Code
She is in the headlines after she said that her clothes were scrutinised at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore. A prison official told her she couldn’t watch convicted murderer Joe Nathan James Jr.’s lethal injection — her skirt was too short and violated the prison’s dress code.
Chandler says that when she got to the Holman prison on Thursday night, August 28, to cover the execution for the AP. She says she first reported on execution in 2002 and has “covered many” in the 20 years since. “This was the first time I had to stand in the media room to have the length of my attire checked,” she wrote on Twitter.

Also subjected to the same treatment is Ivana Hrynkiw, a managing producer of news video and social media at al.com. She wrote on Twitter that she tried pulling her legs to her knee but was still told they were inappropriate. Ivana was given a rain gear-waterproof, Columbia PFG style fisherman’s wader pants. The ADOC deemed the swap appropriate for her skirt. However, she still could not enter as she had open-toe heels. She had a pair of tennis shoes in her car and was then allowed to enter.
