@epnupues is a Los Angeles-based woman who had been messaged by 18-year-old Texas school shooter Salvador Ramos. Ramos shot dead 19 young children and two of their teachers on Tuesday, May 24 in a shooting that has left the country reeling from gun violence once again. The 18-year-old gunman was shot and killed by law enforcement at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde Texas.
The Elementary School where the shooting happened has 600 students enrolled and most of them (90 %) are Hispanic as per the district’s record. The school is located in the city of Uvalde, the hometown of Matthew McConaughey, 60 miles east of the Mexican border and 80 miles west of San Antonio.
What did the Instagram user @epnupues communicate with Salvador Ramos?
The LA woman who is only on record under her Instagram handle @epnupues communicated with Ramos on May 12. Daily May says that Ramons knew the woman on Instagram and that they had never met.
The gunman tagged @epnupues the guns he had bought writing in the caption, “You gonna repost pics, ” Ramos whose handle of his since removed Instagram account is @sal8dor_ wrote to her in a direct message.
The LA woman responded to the post “WHAT!”, “WHat your guns gotta do with me,” to which Ramos responded, “Just wanted to say you.”
The following day on Tuesday around 5:43 a.m, Ramos messaged her again:” I’m about to.” The girl asked “about to what” to which he answered: “I’ll tell you before 11.”
Ramos told the girl he would text her in an hour and urged her to respond writing in a message, “I got a Lil secret I wanna tell u.” “Be grateful I tagged you,” he wrote.
The LA girl responded, ” No it’s just scary. I barely know you and you tag me in a picture with some guns?”
The last message from Ramos was at 9:16 a.m on Tuesday and it read, “Ima air out.”
Ramos went on a shooting rampage that started around 11:32 a.m.
The woman reacted on her Instagram with horror when she learn what he had done. She wrote on her Insta stories while sharing a screengrab of their conversation, ” He’s a stranger, I know nothing about him but he decided to tag me in his gun post.” The girl went on to write, ” I’m sorry for the victims and their families, I really don’t know what to say.”
She then added: ‘The only reason I responded to him was that I was afraid of him I wish I stayed awake to at least try to convince him to not commit his crime. I didn’t know.’
When an Instagram user asked if she was his girlfriend, she replied: ‘I don’t know him and I don’t even live in Texas.’

@epnupues has 19.1K followers on Instagram but she has since set her Instagram account private after backlash from people who started saying that she was her girlfriend of Ramos.
Who is Salvador Ramos?
Ramos was born in North Dakota but lived in Uvalde. He was a student at Uvalde High School before finding work at Wendy’s. He had bought the guns he used in the shooting legally when he turned 18.
A new Texan law was passed in September and allowed those aged 18-21 to buy guns if they had a protective order because they were at risk of family violence, stalking, prostitution, or sex trafficking. The law also removed the requirement for a permit for a handgun. Rifles were already permitted in Texas without licenses.
Ramos’s social media accounts which have since been taken down after he was identified as the gunman was full of photos of his new guns, which he bought on his 18th birthday, state senator Roland Gutierrez said.
