Maria is a stoic, supportive presence in Bianca Tennis career. Her influence has clearly rubbed off on her daughter, who remains remarkably calm in high-pressure moments, a skill she says she owes to her mother having introduced her to creative visualization at a young age.
Just as Bianca will no doubt try to will herself to victory in Saturday’s final, fans of her mother will be hoping for, if not manifesting, another winning Maria Andreescu moment.

What does Bianca Andreescu say of her Mother
During her daughter’s quarterfinal match in the US opens against Elise Mertens on Wednesday night, September 4th the camera repeatedly cut to Maria in the stands—an imperturbable source of calm in oversize black sunglasses, big hair, and a Versace-Esque print top that read “Dog Queen” on the collar and which Maria accessorized with the family pooch, Coco, on her lap. At once covert and in your face, the overall effect suggested Edina Monsoon in the Witness Protection program.

In an Instagram post, Andreescu wrote of her mother, “Without you, I don’t know what I’d do. But with you, I know there is nothing I can’t do. Happy birthday mom I love you sooo much?”

Maria Andreescu Family Dog
During her daughter’s quarterfinal match in the US Open against Elise Mertens, cameras spotted Maria in the stands rocking some oversize black sunglasses, big hair, and a Versace top that read “Dog Queen” on the collar. Completing the look was Coco, the family dog who sat quietly on her lap. This sent fans on Twitter into a frenzy with many reacting to Maria’s outfit and Coco, the family dog.
In order to be in compliance with the rules at the U.S. Open, Coco has to technically remain on the floor. Nicu Andreescu said to The New York Times, “We had to keep our hands on her the whole time because she likes to jump up and watch.”
In spite of the rules, Coco has been seen on Maria’s lap on more than one occasion during Bianca’s matches — and most of Andreescu’s fans don’t seem to mind.
