He’s even served on the AMS Board of Broadcast Meteorology. In September 2019 he was accused of possessing child pornography by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus.

Davis was arrested on Thursday morning, September 5, 2019, and was booked into the Franklin County Jail. The arrest was made by a detective from the sheriff’s office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The arrest came two weeks after the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip. According to the court records, “Davis either advertised for sale, or sold, distributed, disseminated or displayed a pornographic image involving a young girl engaged in a sexual act.”

WBNS issued a statement to NBC4 which read;

“At around 10 a.m. this morning, we learned that Mike Davis was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. We are currently learning more about the details and we will be reporting more about the story. We have no further comment at this time.”

According to court documents Davis knowingly advertised for sale or dissemination, sell, distribute, transport, an image of a young girl participating or engaging in sexual activity.

Mark Gofstein, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer said that law enforcement executed a search warrant on Davis’ home in Upper Arlington on Thursday morning.

Chief Deputy Rick Minerd of the Franklin County sheriff’s office told The Columbus Dispatch that the charges focus on one image, arrests are never made solely on that basis.

“Generally, these cases are not about one image. We do take accidental downloads into account. It’s about a pattern.”

Baldwin added that the tip involved a number of child-porn images, “both sent and received.” He did not specify the ages of the children, nor how long these activities had been going on, other than to say there were a “significant” number of “juvenile children images. Pictures.”

The police seized items from Davis’s home and also took his personal laptop from WBNS building. The station said they will cover Davis story with the same ethical standards as any other case.
