Mike Hickmon a Youth Football coach of the D.E.A Dragons was shot death by Yaqub Talib, the older brother of former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib and the coach of the opposing football coach.The shooting ensued after a disagreement during a game in Lancaster, Texas on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

According to People, Yaqub , 39 turned himself into authorities on Monday Auguest 15 and has been charged with first-degree murder. Aqib Talib 36 will be taking time away from broadcasting “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon to focus on his family after his brother was charged with murder, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

In this article, we look into Mike’s family and how his death has left them in pain espcially beacuse his 9-year-old son, Mike Jr and his wife, Kenyetta Hickmon witnessed the shooting.

Mike Hickmon Wife & Children

Hickmon was married to Kenyetta Hickmon and the couple have three children, Ashley, 25; Emerie, 14; and Mike Jr., 9 who will have to figure out how to move on with their lives without their dad.

Hickmon’s cousing, Toronda gave a detaile interview stating that she could have never imagined that the Saturday’s event would have happened. Hickmon was at their sons every game and the family is sports-centric. “Their dad was dropping them off at practice, picking them up at practice. Him and Mike Jr. — they flew somewhere for a game. So, I don’t even know how they are going to go on without him. He was their biggest cheerleader.”

Besides deticating time for his family, Hickmon still had a heart for other children. He was the coach for the D.E.A Dragons for the past five years. “Mike loved children … this was a good person,” Alford says.

“He was a loving father and husband, and everything he did, he did from the heart. He was one of those, ‘What do you need me to do, how can I help?’ type of people.”

Alford went on to describe him as one one in a million. “I just hope that as a family, we can make him as proud as he made us.”
