Mimi Ivy is a model, actress, reality TV personality, and music video vixen who is also best known for being the wife of American rapper, record and producer Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr. The rapper is being reported to have passed away on September 28, 2022, from a suspected heart attack as per TMZ. Mimi Ivy and Coolio shared 11 children between them. Coolio has six from his past relationship while Mimi has five.

Were Mimi Ivy & Coolio Married?

It does appear that the two were married despite stating in Celebrity Wife Swap in 2013 that they were just friends. Mimi was asked in an interview with Isssu in 2020 how it felt being Coolio’s wife and how they separate the two.

Responding to the question, she said, “We’ve had our challenges over the last couple of years just like any other relationship. We have eleven kids between the two of us, two grandkids, and two more on the way that keeps our home life exciting. But on the other hand, we work well together because we can separate business from our home life by always supporting each other professionally. I’ve always had my light in the entertainment world, and this is why we can launch a collaborative venture together.”

Mimi also refers to Coolio as her hubby on his social media feeds. In one of her Instagram posts, she referred to Coolio as her hubby writing in the post, “Celebrating 50yrs of life for my bro @kenneth.terry1 with family @therealfathermc my hubby @coolio my nephew @official_kurupt and my big bro @the_real_dj_wino and many more… Memories like this are priceless. ”

Mimi Ivy & Coolio appeared in Celebrity Wife Swap

In 2013, Mimi Ivy and Coolio appeared in Celebrity Wife Swap with Sugar Ray singer Mark MacGrath and his wife, Carin. Coolio would later come out claiming that his appearance on the show was faked and that he was not in a relationship with Mimi, who posed as his girlfriend at the time.

In a statement to Britain’s Daily Record, Coolio spoke of his appearance on the show in which he said,  “Listen. It was all set up. I’m nothing like that (how I was portrayed on the show). I’m not even with Mimi. I never was. She’s a friend of mine.”

Coolio insists he will never participate in reality TV again, adding, “They tried to make me look bad. I don’t want to do that stuff again. I’m going to concentrate on my music, food shows, and a film about my darker days.”

Coolio First Wife & Children

Coolio’s first wife was Josefa Salinas, whom he married in 1995.  Coolio has six children from his past relationships. They are, Grtis Ivey, Brandi Ivey, Artisha Ivey, Shayne Ivey, Melan Ivey, Jackie Ivey, Darius Ivey, Kate Ivey, Artis Ivey III, and Zhaneand Ivey. They divorced in 2000.

Coolio Death & Cause

Coolio was discovered unresponsive on a bathroom floor at a friend’s house on September 28, 2022. First responders pronounced him dead on their arrival. His long-time manager, Jarez Posey, expressed his suspicion that it was due to a heart attack. TMZ was the first to report his death.

Unconfirmed reports suggest he had a net worth of $US1.5 million as of his death.
