Peter Chadwick Murderer – Peter Chadwick Quee
On October 9, 2012 Chadwick killed his wife Quee at their house in Newport Beach, CA. According to their neighbour, he heard Quee’s screaming as an argument between Quee and Peter ensued. The neighbour claimed he did not report the screaming as he assumed Quee was temporarily frustrated. According to the Newport Beach Police Department, the couple had been arguing over divorce.
On the same day around 7 p.m., a concerned mother notified NBPD that the two youngest Chadwick sons had not been picked up from school that day. She had driven the boys back home. When they knocked on the door, nobody answered. Nobody was able to get in contact with Peter or Quee.
When the NPBD got into the house they found “evidence of a struggle and possible foul play.” In a bathroom, they found a broken red vase as well as a broken jar of seashells. There was also a bloodied towel, and a safe was open. A light red substance was found spattered on the inside and outside of the bathtub, “consistent with blood.” Cops then began searching for Peter and Quee.
On October 10, San Diego Police received a call from Peter Chadwick requesting assistance with his car, on the 905 freeway near Tijuana. When officers arrived, he claimed a man murdered his wife, and forced him to load her body into his car and dispose of it. In the afternoon a woman’s body was found in a dumpster in the rural San Diego community of Lakeside. She had been strangled and wrapped in a blanket. On October 19th, that woman was positively identified as Quee.
Peter was arrested on October 11 as a suspect. While he custody he claimed that the man who killed Quee came into their home to give them an estimate on painting the interior of the house. He claimed that the man strangled and drowned Quee. However, Peter had signs on his body that he was involved in a struggle, including bruises, scratches on his neck and hands, and a possible bite mark on his wrist.
Peter Chadwick Charges
Peter was charged with murder for financial gain and was released on bail in December 2012. The police did not consider him a flight risk as they were holding his passport and travel documents.
The police believed that Peter killed Quee because she wanted a divorce, as well as the fact that her family in Taiwan was extremely wealthy; they had assets of over $100 million. His bond was originally set at $1.5 million, but was lowered to $1 million after prosecutors decided there wasn’t enough evidence for the financial gain stipulation.
