Gregard and Fayed celebrated their wedding in 1986, but the union lasted only eight months. Later Gregard, who won a divorce settlement of over pounds 2m, spoke of him warmly as per The Independent: “He was so romantic and thoughtful, and didn’t take things too seriously”.
When the model, Kelly Fisher came out claiming that Dodi Fayed had jilted from their relationship to make way for his relations with Dian, Princes of Wales, It was Gredard who came to his ex-husband. She revealed in an exclusive interview with the Independent refuting Fisher’s claims. Fayed became romantically involved with Diana, Princess of Wales in July 1997. Earlier that summer, Fayed had become engaged to an American model, Kelly Fisher. Fayed had bought a house in Malibu, California, for himself and Fisher with money from his father. Fisher subsequently claimed Fayed had jilted her for Diana and announced that she was filing a breach of contract suit against him. He threw her love away in a callous way with no regard for her whatsoever”. She dropped the lawsuit shortly after Fayed’s death.
