Tanya Jones Biography

Tanya Jones was the wife of British actor and former professional football player Vinnie Jones. She died on July 6, 2019 at the age of 53 after a long battle with melanoma, which was allegedly caused by the drugs she was taking after she had a heart transplant in 1987.

Tanya married her husband Vinnie Jones in 1994 in Watford. Vinnie is a British actor and former professional footballer who played as a midfielder from 1984 to 1999. He made his acting debut in 1998 in crime comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He is known for his roles in ‘She’s the Man’, ‘The Riddle’, ‘Arrow’, ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’, ‘Absolution’ among others.

The two first met when they were 12 years old they had a brief relationship when they were 16 but they split up. They again met when Vinnie signed with Chelsea.

‘We had a brief date when we were 16, then she went her way and I went my way. I was living in Leeds, then Sheffield, then moved back into my house after four or five years and she was living next-door-but-one.’

Tanya was previously married to Steve Terry, from 1986-1989. He is a former professional footballer who played as a defender in the Football League for Watford, Hull City and Northampton Town.

Tanya had one child a daughter known Kaley Jay Terry from her marriage to Steve Terry. She was also a stepmother Vinnie’s son Aaron Elliston Jones, from a previous relationship.

Tanya Jones Heart Transplant

Tanya Jones underwent a heart transplant in 1987, at the age of 21, after she gave birth to her first child, Kayley Jones and the doctors told her “to live life just one day at a time.”

Tanya Jones Melanoma – Tanya Jones Cancer

In 2013 Vinnie Jones revealed that both he and his wife had skin cancer. He added that Tanya’s cancer was as a result of the drugs she had been taking since she had a heart transplant at the age of 21.

‘They now think her skin cancer is a result of the drugs she’s been taking since the heart transplant. When it comes to things like this, women are stronger. Suddenly I’ve gone from the one helping her to the one that needs support. I’m trying to take the world in a bit more and appreciate my family and friends.’

Prior to being diagnosed with malignant melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, she had been treated twice for cervical cancer.

Tanya Jones Death

Tanya died on July 6, 2019 after a long illness, her death was confirmed by Vinnie Jones management in a statement which read;

“At 8.46am local time in Los Angeles on Saturday July 6, Vinnie Jones’s wife, Tanya Jones, passed away after a long illness. Tanya passed peacefully at the Jones family home surrounded by Vinnie, their daughter and other family members. Vinnie and the family ask for privacy while they go through an understandable period of mourning during this devastating time.”
