Tyler Butler-Figueroa is an 11-year-old 5th grader, Leukemia Cancer Survivor, and violinist. He is a contestant of America’s Got Talent Season 14. In his auditions, The young violinist captured the hearts of the audience and the show’s judges with his performance and story, ultimately earning a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell.
The season premiere of AGT saw autistic pianist Kodi Lee wow the judges, and episode two saw an entirely different Golden Buzzer performance in the guise of singer and songwriter Joseph Allen. The latter snagged the Golden Buzzer from judge Howie Mandel.

His mother is Kisua Butler-Figueroa. She was behind the stage during his performance on AGTwhich ultimately earning a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell.
In the auditions, His mother said of him playing Violin: “One day, Tyler saw a flyer at his school and it said, ‘Afterschool programme – free violin lessons.’ He said, ‘Mom, I want to do it.’ But no one in our family plays an instrument… and the violin?!

Tyler was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) at the age of 4 1/2. He went 3 years of Chemo and is now 3 1/2 years in remission.

Tyler has been playing the violin for 3 1/2 years but you can’t tell it if you ever got a chance to hear him play. Tyler aspires to be a professional violinist. Tyler street performs downtown Raleigh NC when on a break from school to try to earn money for his trip.
“I wanted to start playing the violin because I was being bullied in school,” Tyler said in his first audition for America’s Got Talent. “It’s because I had cancer, I almost died.”
“The doctors treated me with chemotherapy. When I lost my hair, I was really sad and embarrassed at the same time to go to school. They used to make fun of me and laugh at me because I was different. They would spread rumours to say that my cancer was contagious, and they all wanted to stay away from me,” Tyler continued.

Tyler took the stage as the final performer of the night on episode 3 of America’s Got Talent Season 14. The young violinist captured the hearts of the audience and the show’s judges with his performance and story, ultimately earning a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell.
Before he took the stage to audition for the judges in front of the AGT audience, Tyler’s introductory video revealed that he was bullied for having cancer.
After his moving performance, which earned him a standing ovation, the judges asked Tyler how he was feeling now that his audition performance was over. He told them he was feeling really proud of himself. Cowell told Tyler he had something to say to the bullies on his behalf before pressing his Golden Buzzer, sending Tyler automatically into the live round of the competition.

Tyler Butler-Figueroa AGT Quarterfinals & Semifinals
In the quarter-finals held on August 20th, 2019, Tyler performed ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ by Swedish House Mafia, and sailed through to the semi-finals.
Tyler will perform among six other semifinalists, on 3rd nd 10th September. The result shows will take place on 4th and 11th September, before which America will vote and decide on Tyler’s fate for the final stage of the competition.
The finals will take place on 17 September, with the result show on 18 September. In the end, one act will be crowned the winner of Season 14 and win a Las Vegas headline and $1 million prize.
