Bill Staines Death & Cause
His death was confirmed by Art Grossman who wrote in a tribute, “It very much saddens me to have to tell you that Bill Staines has passed. From his wife: “Please know that Bill Staines has departed this life.
The treatment was too late due to the aggressiveness of the cancer- it was only three weeks from diagnosis.
Obituary will follow tomorrow. Karen and Bowen”
As those of you who know me are very aware, Bill and his music has meant a lot to me over the years. He was not only a gifted writer and performer, but he was also a really nice guy and easy to work with. It sounds so perfunctory to say that Bill will be missed as that phrase and too many others like are just too often tossed around, but in Bill’s case, it is really true. It’s a very sad day.”
“Bill Staines came onto the Extemp scene after I had left, ” Steve Dobbelmann wrote in a tribute, “I had the honor to finally meet him at Jerry’s party on October 31st after first hearing about him and his celebrity back in ‘84. We recently heard of an ill fated cancer prognosis…….Do we need confirmation of another loss… so soon?
I hope rumors are highly exaggerated.🙏”
