Barbara Tober a former President of Acronym, Inc., a firm that invests in art-related projects who worked for three decades as editor-in-chief of Brides magazine and was a former trustees board chair at the Museum of Arts and Design in Manhattan. She is married to Donald G. Tober, Chairman of Sugar Foods Corporation, a food manufacturing, and marketing company. It is being reported that her husband jumped to his death from their NY Apartment on Friday, Jan 15th, 2020. He was 89 years old.
Her background in design (Traphagen School of Fashion, Fashion Institute of Technology, and New York School of Interior Design) has served her well in her chosen fields. She was also a member of the Metropolitan Club, Cosmopolitan Club, and the Century Association.
Barbara has been listed in Who’s Who for over five decades and has worked on the Boards of a number of organizations including the Women’s Forum, International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), which gave her their award for excellence in 1992, and The Fashion Group International, where she was President in 1991. She also served as a board member of the Women’s Leadership Initiative at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and has been a member of the Board of Sugar Foods Corporation for the past 38 years.
She was born on August 19th, 1934 (age 86 years as of 2021).
Donald Tober Death & Cause
Donald Tober jumped to his death from his 11th Floor Apartment in NY. He reportedly jumped from his New York apartment in the early hours of this morning after struggling with Parkinson’s.
His body was found in the courtyard of the building, located between 65th and 66th street on the Upper East Side. Speaking to the New York Post, a source said he had been struggling with the effects of Parkinson’s disease
