Who is Jan Walsh? Fabricland Karen
Jan Walsh has been identified as the ‘Fabricland Karen’ seen in a viral video where she goes on an anti-mask tirade in an incident that took place in a local Fabricland store. The manager of a Calgary fabric store says she was uncomfortable, surprised and upset when she was subjected to part of a customer’s anti-mask tirade which was caught on camera.
Her Anti-Mask Tirade was Captured in a Viral Video
Fabricland employees confirm occurred at the store’s southeast Calgary location on Sunday, September 13th and was posted to Reddit and quickly went viral before eventually being taken down. Fabricland has a mandatory mask policy, which is similar to the City of Calgary’s bylaw aimed at mitigating the spread of the coronavirus in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the video, Jan Walsh who has blond hair and is wearing pink glasses is seen speaking to an employee who is out of the frame, saying she is “sick and tired of your sickened rules.” The employee is heard saying she doesn’t want to wear a mask either, and the woman ranting argues with her before calling her a “sheep, just like the rest of them.”
Jan Walsh then turns to the person filming the interaction, getting very close to her and asking: “Are you afraid?” The person filming tells the woman she’s getting really close, and that she’s trying to protect her by wearing a mask and keeping her distance.

“Oh, I don’t need protection from you,” the woman with blond hair says. As the woman with blond hair once again gets in the face of the person filming, a Fabricland manager approaches and asks her to leave. The woman then proceeds to argue with her.
A voice from out of the video frame then pipes in, saying, “Wait until someone you know is sick and then you will see how much of a hoax it is.” “Nobody is sick, sweetheart,” the woman with blond hair says as the manager repeatedly asks her to leave.
According to store manager Maddie Lemeistre, Jan pushed her way past the front doors of the store, despite the assistant manager trying to get her attention about not wearing a mask.
Jan Walsh Facebook
Jan has a Facebook profile where she posts preformative pictures like every other sad person on FB but hers include THE GREATEST Xmas card photos with her two cats and Husband.
She wrote in one post
“I am ‘this lady,. the gal who videotaped was the aggressive one, not me… she knew that by taking out her phone and doing this she would cause me to react and she could get some really good video and she would somehow become relevant…. i have my doubts she really cares about people who are dying from anything… like suicide, alcoholism, drug overdose, untreated cancer etc.. well the joke is on her….1. !think I look fabulous, 2. I am so proud of myself for having the guts to stand up for myself – there were several people against just me, and they were ever so brave chiming in with their negative comments once they knew I was outnumbered, so, so brave, 3. I plan on spreading this video far and wide! If you don’t stand up for something then you’ll fall for anything. Advice to people in stores who want to enforce the mask law if one person had of approached me and had any sort of empathy for me and took me aside and caringly explained things then I could have left with some dignity._ but they decided cornering me like an animal, forcing a reaction would be way more fun to video, post the video and try and shame me. It’s about entertainment people – nobody really cares about people dying. ”
