Who is Joe Demarco? New Jersey Correctional Facility Employee Imitated George Floyd’s Homicide
Joe DeMarco has bee identified as one of the white men who disgustingly imitated George Floyd’s homicide in front of Black Lives Matter protesters. On Tuesday evening June 9th, the New Jersey Department of Corrections suspended him in a statement addressing the behavior without naming Joe DeMarco.
Joe and his brother James ‘Jim’ Demarco were involved in a reenactment of the death of George Floyd in Franklinville, New Jersey, on Sunday evening, June 7th while a peaceful protest marched by, according to Fox 29 Philadelphia. The incident was recorded by many of the protestors, who displayed their shock and disgust at the reenactment.
The Incident was Caught in a now Viral Video
Passers-by recorded Jim DeMarco as he reenacted Floyd’s death, kneeling on Joe DeMarco’s neck in the same way Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck. The other white people standing on the property were shouting all the while at the protestors who passed.

At one point, one of the brothers said, “This is what happens, this is what happens, comply with the cops, comply with the cops. He’s dead because he didn’t comply.”

Several other white men and women stood next to the two men doing the reenactment. They had an “ALL LIVES MATTER” poster, as well as a Trump banner on the back of their pickup truck.
Joe DeMarco Corrections officer at a New Jersey facility
Joe DeMarco was suspended from his job as a corrections officer at a New Jersey facility pending a full investigation of the incident Less than a day after the video went viral. The New Jersey Department of Corrections posted a statement addressing the behavior of their employee, without naming Joe DeMarco.
The statement reads:
We have been made aware that one of our officers participated in the filming of a hateful and disappointing video that mocked the killing of George Floyd. The individual has been suspended from their post and banned from NJDOC facilities pending a thorough and expedited investigation.
Many Twitter users have stated that the property where the group of Trump supporters were standing belongs to one of the DeMarco brothers and that this brother sells lumber or firewood on the property. This has not been confirmed, but you can see large pieces of reclaimed wood for sale by the fence in each of the videos, each marked with a price tag.
James Demarco FedEx
Jim DeMarco works for FedEx and was fired Tuesday, June 9th, according to Newsweek. Newsweek reported that Jim DeMarco kneeled on his brother Joe’s neck in the video.
FedEx also issued to Newsweek. Without naming Jim DeMarco as the employee in question, the company said the video was “appalling and offensive.” The statement said:
FedEx holds its team members to a high standard of personal conduct, and we do not tolerate the kind of appalling and offensive behavior depicted in this video. The individual involved is no longer employed by FedEx. A diverse and inclusive workforce is at the heart of our business, and we stand with those who support justice and equality.
TMZ got a statement from FedEx in which they wrote, “The behavior depicted in the video, which involved a FedEx employee, is appalling and offensive. The employee in question was immediately removed from all FedEx work duties while our investigation is concluded and all internal procedures are followed.”
The shipping giant further said, “A diverse and inclusive workforce is at the heart of our business, and we stand with those who support justice and equality.”
