Petra graduated from school at 18 and started as an apprentice to become a cook. She got her diploma in 1988. Before Petra got the opportunity to become the chef of a restaurant in a small but exclusive hotel in India in 1994, she worked in different restaurants around Europe.

Most famously, Lindbergh’s reputation was anchored in the rise of the supermodel in the 1990s. The inception was the January 1990 cover of British Vogue, for which he assembled Ms. Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Ms. Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Tatjana Patitz in downtown New York. He had shot some of the women on a beach in Malibu for an American Vogue editorial two years before, as well as for the first cover of the magazine under a new editor in chief in 1988 — Anna Wintour.
